Honey Lemon Chicken and Green Beans

Lemon chicken is just one of those dinner recipes that just about everyone enjoys. It’s always been a favorite of mine, although the same old thing can get boring. Introducing the opposite of boring – Honey Lemon Chicken and Green Beans Stir Fry. This dish has got it all! Crunchy green beans, tender, flavorful chicken, and a sweet and tart honey lemon stir fry sauce that coats every bite.

Say hello to your families new favorite dinner: Honey Lemon Chicken. We’re searing chicken breasts, sauteeing green beans and drizzling it all with a homemade honey lemon sauce. So easy and soo tasty!

Beautiful seared chicken breasts kissed with homemade honey lemon sauce and you’re all set to holler for dinner in around 30 minutes. And let me take a moment to tell you about that sauce! It’s bright and lemony with some natural sweetness from the honey, and you can almost hear that deep-voiced ‘oh yeahhhhhhhh’ as the honey lemon butter sauce slowly trickles down that lightly crispy chicken.
The best part is that this Honey Lemon Chicken and Green Beans Stir Fry can be ready in around 20 minutes, prep time and all. I did marinate my chicken in soy sauce and rice vinegar for about 30 minutes before cooking, but you could also just toss the chicken in that combo and and let it sit while you prep and start cooking. The chicken cooks in the marinade anyway. Either way it’s delicious!


In the midst of sweltering Houston heat, I grudgingly make my way into the kitchen only before/after the sun has made its way towards the other end of the house and even then I’m only willing to spend 30 minutes preparing food. Luckily, this honey lemon chicken requires just ten simple ingredients and comes complete with one side and the main entree. Also: honey lemon sauce to drizzle alll over a little rice, quinoa, or dip some crusty bread.

It’s the first rule in the book: sauce makes a good meal, GREAT.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder divided
  • 1 pound chicken breast sliced thin
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice and 1 lemon sliced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 garlic clove cut
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 tablespoons butter cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 pound green beans
PREPARATION
  1. chicken: add the flour, 1/4 t garlic powder, 1 t salt and 1/2 t pepper in large ziplock. shake. Heat skillet over med-hig heat and add oilive oil
  2. Add chicken to skillet and brown on each side, cook through. Put on seperate plate
  3. Sauce: saucepan, combine lemon juice, honey and garlic overmed heat. Let sauce come to a boil, reduce heat and let simmer for one minute. Remove garlic clove. Add 1 T butter and continue to swirl until the butter completely melts. Repeat process with remaining 3 pieces. When butter is completely melted, remove sauce from heat and season with cayenne.
  4. Add oil to same pan that cooked chicken. Add lemon slices and add green beans with 2 T water. Cover and let cook until desired softness. Season with salt pepper and 1/4 t garlic powder. Pile chicken back on top
  5. Pour sauce over dish. Serve
